just got a 12" type r sub off a friend, and it keeps cuttin out, works fine in his car and that just wondering if its my lil amp that cannot take it? what amp would i be better off havin rather than an xplod amp?!

what is the exact amp that you have

and for cutting out it will probably be the amp, not the sub

could also be a dodgy earth/remote. more than likely the amp is under powered tho!

an amp does not know if it is underpowering a sub or not, unless it has a clipping monitor (used for overpowering) - but as your sub wont be clipping, your amp will think its doing just fine. ill put my money on being a lose earth/power cable.

my amp does the same it tripes out and goes red then goes green and work's

i have to turn the line in down and its sorted

na ive just fitted a 4gauge wireing kit and done it all properly and thats fine, im not sure on the make of the amp all i know its sony xplod and 400watts, its a momo amp to, i personally think its ****.

You are right.

It probably has clipping protection and it has such a low output that you have turned the gain up too much into clipping.

Try it on minimum gain.
