i have fitted one of those fans which blow cold air straight onto my airfilter so that it is always getting a supply of cold air, but i was wondering if there is anyway i can splice into a cable or something to make the fan increase and decrease with the throttle, as it is just constantly on one speed?

possible, but you'd have to come up with a circuit. some form of relay connected to the accelerator potentiometer would be a start.
Or you could just leave the fan on high constantly (much easier, more reliable and less stuff to f up)

where do you get these fans and how much do they cost?

Yea thats true that less to go wrong, i have it set up as a constant blast so its sucking in all the cool air from outside straight onto the air filter, i got mine from a private sale, think i have seen them on ebay stated as superchargers which they are not but they are good to get a supply of cold air onto the filter, also i wanted to have the fan variable because on my 1.2 i used to have it broke the air flow meter i think this is because of all the air that was going through while standing still and at low revs i guess,
Any fan powerful enough to "constantly" draw in air from the surroundings will in turn heat up the air ....probably more so than the engine would heat it up.
That is provided of course you have a fan that can flow air quicker than the engine can draw in....which i doubt....as then you would have a forced induction system.
How does this air get sucked in? where is the fan positioned?

it is positioned on the standard air intake in the grill, so it sucks through the air intake onto the air filter, it is a powerful fan but it does not heat up the air, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Electric-Supercharger-Turbo-Vauxhall-Vectra-SRI-GSI-V6_W0QQitemZ220134294773QQihZ012QQcategoryZ36680QQ rdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
it is similar to this but better quality, i just think it helps the flow of cold air into the air filter from basically allowing the air forced into the air intake from the speed of the car,

Sorry i can't see the pic.
Do you have an aftermarket air filter? Do you have pipework leading to the filter?
I really can't see this having any benefit on performance. Unless it can actually force more air into the inlet than the car sucks in it's just getting in the way.
If it's a powerful enough fan to do that...it will be heating up the air.

all i think is good is that it helps to get cold air in than to just stick a air filter on the end and let the standard air intake pipe let a little bit of cold air in
Oh rite...one of the famous electric supercharger air filters.
Say no more.
is that how much you paid for it. I havent looked up in the thread but has it improved performance then ?

i will try and get some pics if you would like, i have only put it on temp as i want to modify the pipe work so it fits and sits alot better

no i didnt pay that much, i think thats over priced i got mine for 30
Yes please on the pic front :)

i think it helps with the performance, it is sharper at accelerating, i think with some other mods ect and re map it does help
