Get a headunit n a tomtom separately?
Here's my plan....
Kenwood 729DVD - About 500 (unit + brain - does usb / mp3 / dvd/ divx as standard)
Kenwood BT100 - around £50 (bluetooth)
Kenwood G520 - £320 ish(gps)
Kenwood GTM10 (traffic notification module - £60 ish)
Ipod video cable £30
possibly a reverse camera (£20)
Total:- £980
Has the removable strip and a flip out screen.
It's expensive, but damn good.

cheers for that might look into sourcing most of that but the alpine does all this in one so if i can on of them cheap will do
any further suggestion would be gratefully accepted.
At the min I've got the HU, Bluetooth, and iPod lead, buying a bit at a time so I don't have to skint myself in one go.
When looking at GPS, take a good look, some have a DVD/CD with maps on that you put in the headunit or the seperate DVD/CD drive, a pain if you like music, and you end up treating the disc like it's holy when you realise how much a replacement would cost.
The G520 has the maps built in and an SD slot for updating them, so no swapping disc.
There's probably something similar by another manufacturer, but I couldn't find it.

just to let people posting know i have a sat nav its a navman f20 and i have a aftermarket head unit but would like everything in one as i have had my window smashed because i forgot to take the clamp off the windscreen.
u been broken into down your street?
it has usb input (A cable with a usb socket comes out the rear - run it to glovebox...) for a USB memory stick, but it has only one slot, so it's a choice of that or an ipod...
I thought I was being paranoid taking the sucker off when I had a seperate gps.
