are these any good?? a mate has offered me set in good condition for 40quid but at the time he wasn't sure which model they are. he's going to get back to me about it but as i would have to drive a bit to get em i was just wondering if they are any good and if they're worth the money?? i know they're lettered (like type D and type X etc) but which ones are good?

if there e types, dont buy them for that price. u can get them new for that. if there the s types, make sure they are the ones with the crossovers
personally, i think alpine comps are overpriced compared to other brands. s type comps with xovers are 83 quid, and have 50rms. for that price u can get some better ones. i paid 45 delivered for a brand new set of infinity comps with 90rms, and on the CAS site they are 70 quid

depending on the model they are, and whether they have xovers, 40s not bad to spend on comps. if they are e types, or s types without xovers, i would go for the infinitys tbh. more bang for ur buck

if they're type X are they worth it then?? i have 70 quid in my paypal atm so that would deffo be an option! atm i have fusion front comps and xovers (got em for like a tenner off a mate) and in the back i have a set of vibe kevlar composite components which are much better quality! i plan to amp my front comps using a rockford fosgate so i need a set that can take a bit of abuse lol

if theyre type x, ur ripping him off, so buy them faaaaaast. tbh thou, theyre more likely to be e type, possibly s type. e type dont buy at all imo, s type buy if they have the crossovers.
then again, u could buy those speakers off ebay brand new for a little over 40 quid, and there more powerful than both the e type and the s type. i have them, and think there really good. only negative thing about them is that they are quite harsh at higher volumes, although im running them off the headunit, with an amp they would probably sound alot better. for around 70 quid though, i cant see many, if any that are better than those infinities, then when u add the fact that u can get them new for 43 quid or so delivered, there a bargain :thumbs:

i don't mind if they're a bit harsh as i run my comps with the bass off and the treble up as it sounds better with my two 15" subs sadly i can't follow any of those sexy links you supplied as i'm at work and ebay etc is banned.... but i'll have a good look later :doublethumbs:

yeah i might buy a set of those then!! since they're so highly recommended!! do they look nice? mine are mounted on the actual doorcard so they have to be pretty!

well i like them lol, im not an ice expert, but i can tell when something sounds good! and there cheaaaaaaaaaaaaaap
they do look good. the woofer is a titanium colour, and the grills look good, but i didnt use mine cos there behind the doorcard.

yep, 43 delivered actually, or something like that, but less than 45 delivered.
thats on the ebay link though. caraudiosecurity sell the same comps for 70 not inc p+p, so it makes sense to get them off ebay

Those are co-axials. Components are better.

yeah mate why not! only issue is that the crossovers are mounted on the doorcards so i need to try and get crossovers that will cover the holes on the doors lol i'm looking for a set online now!

the fusions?? dunno mate i haven't really thought about that yet! i don't know if i'm deffo replacing em, i'd really like to as i fancy something that can take a bit more power but because of how i mounted the crossover i don't know what i should do as i will need my new comps to have crossovers of a similar size to replace em...... unless i can use the fusion crossovers with my new comps and tweeters?? but then if i sold the fusion comps and tweeters the buyer would need crossovers... although you can get those cheap from ebay......... i also want a slimline ps2.............. i don't know what to do!

Are these infinity comps (http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/3829.html) just a replacement for the speakers inside the door cards and the tweeters at the sides of the dash? it says woofers but am not sure, are they the big 1s in the door cards by your feet?

dunno what u mean by 'just' thou. what you want them to be? by woofer do u want a subwoofer, or something else?

no i have a sub, have an alpine type R, but in the item description it says about these having woofers so i was a bit confused....if i was to get these, which amp would be best equiped to power them? would i need any of those adapter things?

well depending on how you mount them, you will most likely need the ring adaptors which are about a tenner from halfords. however if you want to cut them into the doorcard or anything then you don't need anything. i'm not sure of any particular amp but generally a two channel job with a fairly low wattage would do the job nicely as you don't wanna risk blowing em! makes a good difference tho!

well what i did when i put my kenwoods behind the grille was cut the cones out of the standard speakers, and used a jigsaw to take out the plastic bits inside em! then i used the outside ring of the standard speaker as an adaptor! works perfectly and my local ice specialist suggested it to me as a good way to save a few quid!
