just use a bit of threadlock on the screws for extra security.

just put abit on the screw thread and screw them in. it helps stop the screw from coming out, but tbh i dunno how itd help make the mirrors harder to steal, its usually used for screws on things that vibrate alot, like nitro rc cars

hi guys!!
The above tutorial will help with the wiring that you (and I) need to all do to get them working - the 3 wires that go to the plastic 'block' on the mirrors are the ones that adjust the mirror angle and the other 2 loose wires are for the heated glass option - they all should be wired onto the standard block which is shown in the 1st pic of the tutorial

As for the screws - you'll need to get some thicker screws than the ones currently on the C as standard as these seem to be too narrow. I'm gonna go to a DIY store tomrrow to look for some myself.

Paul.

SXI001 sprays them for £55 i think - thats about the going rate for a good job.

As for fitting - the screws you will need to fit the baseplates to the car (as the original VX screws are too narrow) can be bought from Motorworld & Halfords (Halfords part no. HFX138 on the 'bits and bobs' shelf)

tooley> I had a few issues trying to get the passenger side to sit correctly - what i did was, using a duster, pushed the corner of the mirror glass with my fingers (duster to prevent finger print marks) and I have got it perfect now :)

Paul.

Sorry to bring this up again, just to clarify, you cut the little block off the wires on the new mirrors? And how do you know which wire is which on the 2 loose heated ones?

Cheers

hi Rich,

yeh you cut the original block off and then do exactly what it says on the tutorial at the start of this thread :)

Cheers Paul

Yeh I know you wire them in as per the tutorial, however, which wire on the VX block goes to which wire on the 2 heated ones? Surely thrers a + and - ?

Also, how did people attach the wires to the VX block - theres not much room to squeeze wires in!! Soldering?

samisnake

solder the wire, then cover each solder in tape so that they dont short out against each other

to be honest mate, if some pikey really want to nick your Sri Mirrors, no matter what you put on it they are gonna be nicked.

I do soldering as my job so access to the tools is easy, not sure how easy it will be to solder onto that block tho

Anybody know which colour wires on the block correspond to the heated + and - on the mirrors? And which is + and - on the heated wires? They're both just black
