View Full Version : DLS, MB Quart, Boston or Focal...
Well, what ones...?
They'll running from a headunit (sort of).. and they'll be going in front and rear of the car. And ill have a sub in the boot anyway.
What should i get and WHY
MB Quart: DKF-116 (http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/5431.html)--- £100
Focal: 165CA1 (http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/4579.html) --- £70
Boston Accoustic: SX65 (http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/boston-acoustics-sx65-p-4619.html) --- £120
DLS: B226 (http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/5604.html)--- £83
I was goin to go DLS... but im not sure...
Please give a reason, even if its just because of price
Martin
Mate stop being a tight arse and get yourself some real speakers.
I.E. Something in the DLS range that costs more than £100 at least!
R6A's ? UP6's ?
They're only running from headunit mate, no point getting them. plus - i dont want comps, coaxils can go straigh in.
comps i have to fart abotu with the tweeter/cross over etc
edit - and LOL at being a tight arse, those are the only coaxils on CAS :P
Surely it wont take that much farting about. Besides im sure you will want to upgrade in the future.
Do the BM and yourself justice :|

nope, out of the question mate. Martin wants a house with a cinema room. When he has that room, then ill get my wallet out :P

I'm guessing you can only fit coax's in or else you would have posted component systems.
Where are the stock locations in your bmw? Photos maybe?
EDIT: Martin even the B6As will sound way better than those if you can get them in.

Low power rating, good sensitivity, shallow depth, small x-over.

the tweeter goes next to the door opening latch... if you can see it? its just "black"?

Yeah I'd go with B6As. They're suitable for HU powering and by the looks of it the stock locations are suitable and accessible.

LOL
I won't claim that mine is amazing SQ or volume, but for just over £200 mine was a bargain and it does me perfectly for films and CDs. It's still my reference system for what I expect good audio to sound as good or better than.

hmmm... surely ill have to fart about with the BMW wiring, if im to "over ride" their cross over, in roder for my DLS one to function?
as for the rears - there is no tweeter spot... so would you recomend coaxils for here, Or, do you know if the DLS comes with an adaptor to mount the tweeter over the woofer...
they both recommend you buy my JL XR's

Rear: get the DLS coaxes you posted.
Wiring: I'm guessing the BMW wiring is similar to the corsa's in that you can just cut it off and splice the new speakers in where the wires come into the door. Not much hassle at all. Have a look.

Coax x-overs are usually built into the speaker, or in a small external box inline with the signal cables. It looks like the DLS coax's are the latter.

Echoing what Wizzy said, most Car Audio shops (apart from the people he is recommending and other similar firms) rip you off when installing equipment because the installers usually know jack s**t about anything to do with the world around them, let alone the electrical systems of a modern car. They will most likely bodge the job and damage your car in the process. The worst thing is that for the privilege of having your car broken you have to pay for it!
hmmm... yeah thats true...
how much you reckon id be lookin at to get that astuff installed. ive NEVER considered paying some one else before :\

quite alot of amps accept high level in. was it that sony thing that you wanted to get?
and it should be a square blocky thing on one end that plugs into you amp and on the other end will just be the speaker wires so you don't need to go about getting a plug to fit that it all comes with it =)
check yo pm's =]

Sorry mate, my internet is playing the f***-about game today. I'm not sure about the high level square plug thingy, but I would hazard a guess that you'll find them on the manufacturers website.

and?
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd12/yb52luo/martincar.jpg
correct, thanks
got a price of £90 for:
installing front speakers and tweeters
splicing into my ISO loom and running/hiding speakers into my boot (leaving them loose)
running the bass controller wire into my door, and come out into the door card pocket£90 for that lol. I'll go with it though... as it just leaves me to:
instal Sound On Top Amp to work with headunit
put plug on the end of the loose wires
instal sub and amp in boot
wire up the bass controller
install rear speakers
:)
