yes u can remove the thermostat but i dont recommended it unless you need to stop your car from overheating or if u live in a very hot part of the country, it will make the water circulate move more freely so it will stay cooler but you may sacrifice a bit of heat from the heater in the car and it may take longer for the heater to warm the car up but this is a sacrifice you have to make, removing the thermostat should not cause any damage internally either!

maybe change thermostat for a new one?

im still running my thermostat & have done for over 4 year & never had any problems + my heaters are just as good as when it was a 1.2L

    hope this helps

    cheers kev

thanks mate, just one more thing, doesnt not having one affect performance. surely it must do as its not letting the engine warm up, unless its my dial as the temperature never goes past 40degrees

it wont make any diffrence in performance/hurt the engine if you dont have one in as long as you let the engine warm up propley first before you drive it (5-10 mins to warm up)

its just what you experiancing in that the engine without one in will make the water circulate more freely so it will stay cooler but you may sometimes sacrifice heat from the heater in the car and it may take longer for the heater to warm the car up!

in the summer time i would remove it as you dont really need warm heaters & will help the engine keep cooler

before winter time i would put it back in as you say above its not nice having cold seats & heaters
