Left hand side of car speakers not working

Just brought a new used car and found that all the speakers on the left hand side are not working. What could be the problem. In the boot on left side there is a lead hanging out but do not see where it could go is this for a sub or amp and need one to be connected up to have them all working again?

lol mine does that now and again, its the dodgy wire in the back on my cd player, when u touch the cd player all of them work agen try taking cd player out and pushing all wires back in see if that works

yep well the balance i didnt realise you had to pull the knob out to change the balance lol

i have the sam sort of problem on my c but now my front right is starting to crackle and cut out and back in.. :/ ? its not the fader or balance on mine but i also have a hanging lead as stated above.. i really wanna get this sorted..
