Vauxhall Astra 1.9 cdti sri problems

my mate is looking at buying one of these and is in quite a rush so hes not really bothered for a bargain.

iv told him to look for the ones with better kit on, wheels, trim, leathers etc ect

is there any common problems i should look for? iv been told the gearboxes on them go after a while but other than that?

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-A...item2a1cbb09d9

    http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classifi...ge/7?logcode=p

there just a couple of examples, but that bottom one seems to be priced well but its been for sale for a few weeks now and i dont think its sold

and he wants the 150bhp version to

    cheers

i have 1 in a c an only problem ive had is getting a map for it but its a diff ecu on the astra so everywhere does them and there a good solid engine, pretty bullet proof tbh.

Z19DTH engine's ain't that bad, EGR is piss easy to change over and as long as you ain't sending all that torque through 1st & 2nd gear the clutch/gearbox/flywheel will be fine. Stick a tuning box or a map on it for 200bhp and lotsa torqs

nope.. same gearbox.. jus the 120's run less power/torque so they fail less lol

My manager's son bought a four year old z19dth last year, since then its had egr valve, glow plugs, inlet manifold, swirl actuator, and most recent a gearbox. These engines also suffer alternator, glow plug harness are also common faults.

Gearboxs only give way if they are treated badly, the oil gets too hot and f*cks the bearing so some decent oil will sort that along with a lsd

Basically and check for service history and if some of the parts above have been replaced then its a bonus.

it is the twintops only ones that have them.. i do own a 5 door 1.9 150

The zaffy also has it and some early veccys IIRC, but the only astra H to have them is the twintop 1.9 150..
