can you put water in the coolant reservoir?

hi, i have a 1.2 sxi corsa c and just topped up some oil and water in the washers reservoir...however, i have notice an empty reservoir with a yellow cap and did some searching and it seems to be for the coolant?

My question (n00b question) ...can i put water in there as its empty or does it have to be something else like anto freeze?!

sorry about my ignorance, and thanks for your help

No worries, does it look like anything has boiled out over the bottle?

    Any stain marks or anything?

Ahh right, im not sure about the dirty bottle, im sure someone else will be able to help.

With the mayo, if its only a little bit its just condensation from short journeys, a long motorway drive would clear it up

Personally I would go for the red as this is what vauxhall use from the factory and also the car is more likely to have the red one in the engine. The blue and red have a different composition I think and I think the vauxhall engines are meant to use the red one really

good tip is to flush the system; if you drain it (bottom left of the rad there is a valve that lets the coolant drain) and then flush the system with fresh water then re fill with anit freeze and water to the min mark

easy job and worth doing for winter
