Right I've had my chain replaced approx 1k miles ago and was fine until recently it's started a loud rattling sound from the cam cover area. I have done a couple of videos but it was a little windy!

No warning lights or anything like that.

Ignore the actual video lol just listen to the sound please :)

Very grateful for any help!!

Argh! I can't stand that noise.

Has the timing chain and tensioner been put on correctly?
Sounds like there's no tension being taken up on it!

That was my initial thought tbh :/ going to take it back to the garage that did the chain for me and get them to take a look.. just thought I'd post it up here incase anyone thought it might have a different cause...

But yeah I hate the noise and refuse to drive it while its making that sound :/ also gave it an oil change and the oil was really metallic so not sure if chain has been rubbing on something? :/

Am just sick of this car now tbh lol I wanna get rid of it and get a 1.8 Sri :)

I did have to put some 5w30 in when my oil light came on and oil was low but I think I may have put too much in for a little bit and then drove approx 10 miles then drained it back out again :/

Yep changed filter then flushed it then fresh oil and wynns hydraulic tappet treatment :/

Its just what that ****ty little engine will sound like as it gets older. No point throwing money at it.
Only problem is I'm trying to get rid of it and that sound is not attractive to a potential buyer :/

Don't blame u mate :/ would much rather have a 1.8 coz no chain ftw

How many miles are on the engine? It does seem very tappy

I did speak to my cousin about this and he says these engines (1.0/1.2) are just loud generally, he's replaced timing chains on them and he says they're still reasonably loud, thing is I doubt the engine is being damaged I would rather have it be just loud than loud and causing damage
Engine is on approx 95k :/ and oil came out metallic which suggests something isn't right..

How much does it actually cost to get a timing chain and tensioner replaced? Chances are it costs more than any resale value it would add.
Chain cost £250 and I had it done a while ago before I decided to get rid of the car :/
