Hi Rannar
I could have this wrong but here we go, if you mean by badges the plastic ones on the rear then
what I always did was heat up the badge with heat gun (not to hot) or hair drier.
Then carefully and gently use a an old credit card or body filler applicator (plastic tripe) to slide underneath, and then with a see saw action carefully remove, if it gets stiff rewarm area.
To remove glue left behind I always use petrol, a clean rag and finger nail to scrape it off, using fingernails
won't scratch paint work. Petrol will not harm paintwork.
Finally when all clean, polish with t cut or whatever you have.
My advice comes from nearly 20 years in the accident repair job
Hope I have been of some help
Thanks for the tips i will remember that for when i come to removing my side strips, but my question was why do people remove the rear badges it seems to be the first thing everybody does but idk i think it looks better with them on
Personal opinion. Most people find it looks cleaner without the rear badges or just the centre one etc - Personally I got rid of the "Corsa" and "1.2" just to tidy it up and hide the fact it's a 1.poo haha!
Most people think it looks better, on some it does (SRi being the main one due to the colour coding). I prefer a standard car so like to keep the badges on
You've not tried to get right in the gaps of the letters when they have got full of filth? I've probably still got a little moss in one of my Elegance badge. Put too much wax on my car once and it was hiding in the letters for ages.
I do that to all my cars, gets done every year if they need it or not
