Just been for a drive and it drives fine on about 25-40% throttle....pulls through the Rev range good. But if I floor it to 100% it bogs down and splutters and will not pick up at all. Im going to scrap yard now to see if I can get a MAF.

 

Another update.

Couldn't get hold of a maf so I wanted to do something..... I dismantled it again and removed the egr valve and it's completely jammed solid! I'm sure last time the little pin was right out and could be pushed in freely...... But now it's welded stuck WTF?????

Anyway I forced it in with a hammer :s as I couldn't get it unstuck and I've mapped out the egr valve to stop the car using it. Went out for a 50 mile round trip run and the light never came on once. Sat at 75 all the way there and back with plenty power between 60-75....


Could the egr valve being stuck open cause the maf error and no power at all? This is really puzzling me.

Diesel,s ain't my thing, but it sounds like ya sorted it.

 

If the egr valve is stuck slightly open it won't allow boost pressure to build up until higher in the Rev range
Also if it's stuck open it will draw the exhaust gasses back into the inlet instead of air through the maf therefore logging a fault

 

Yeah, there ain't much usable oxygen in exhaust gases, a jammed open EGR will just choke the engine.

If it's stuck open a bit then it will lose boost through that

 

Yea was only stuck open like half, maybe less. Going to replace that tomorrow as the program I've got that deletes it doesn't delete the fault codes so removing it completely is giving 0403 Egr open circuit and light on

 

Yep seems as though that was the problem. Made a plate at work with some gasket gunk stuff and blocked it off. Egr is just bolted near by 1 bolt... No lights and driving good now.
