Hi, quick question, my dear grandad has a 2003 corsa, 2 owners his had since 2005 only done 39000 miles. When I took him out to the shop the other day, I noticed he was finding it hard to get into first, so I had a drive myself, it does go in to first but it seems to get stuck before it actually wants to go in, reverse and all other gears are fine no problem! Being female I’m **** and thinking the worst! Any advice as to what it might be and how to fix? It’s just past mot and had a Service,

sounds like the gear linkage is on its way out, or gone, have a search on the site, you find lots a bout it.

Welcome to ccuk, vic. If you find the site search a bit difficult (it can be a bit non-intuitive, tbh) then follow up with a help request and I'll post up some relevant threads. The short version is that it's a bit of an accountant's cheap plastic part idea that is only designed to last for the warranty period. Replacements are better made, longer lasting and not uneconomical to do the fix.
