hi, i have recently got a second hand 2001 1.4 sri and noticed a few problems the main one being that every time i try to start it up it wont fire up unless i apply some revs and also its stalled a couple of times at junctions, when its running its spot on no jerks or anything its just when i start it up. has anyone got any ideas other than taking it to a garage. cheers for any advice scott.

Mine struggles to start sometimes, it's a 1.2 though, but especially if I stall it, it takes a while to start. If it's been sitting for a few days, it starts up instantly! No idea about your exact problem though sorry.

Ive got the same problem as you i think Scot. Is yours alright in the higher gears? Cos thats whats goin on with mine. Once its warmed up tho its ok right?

when you have to put revs on to start it it could be your choke sticking i think someone said it happened to my old car dont know how true it is but it could do

Modern cars don't really have chokes, they just run off a computer which decides what's what.

However, I did think, it might either be your fuel pump on the way out, or your fuel filter a bit blocked up? Has it been serviced properly?
