clunky gearbox

hi. ive got a 52 plate corsa c and I find the gear box to be quite clunky as in it makes a "clunk" sound when changing gear, especially in 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th is not so bad.

I dont have any problems getting into gear its just that it clunks when it does.

do you guys get the same on your corsa's or is your gearchange smooth as silk?

i hear vauxhalll gearboxes aint the best.

my gear change is no way near smooth.. into reverse is the worst for me, a clunk is normal but it goes in with a bang... 1st to second sometimes is stiff and awkward, to third with a clunk... 4th and 5th are fine. its been in vauxhall and they seem to of done **** all to it so ive just accepted it, its a corsa after all, not a merc lol

its hard to change reverse for me 2!.........makes that bad sound~!.....

i mean reverse in any car is never always gonna be clear... but mine is in the state whereby, im reversing in tescos or something and everyone turns around to see what the hell it was as it sounds so bad lol, and no im not throwing it into reverse while rolling forward

is there not a common problem with the gear linkage? I knw my clunks really badly, worse than the punto and seicento i had before hand, and mines a 54 reg!

Mine can be hard getting into 2nd some times, rest is OK though. Reverse is OK most of the time... sometimes i get a loud noise.

dont you dare say a merc is a nice car!!!!!!!
i work on them all day n trust me there not what they seem!!!
anyway back to the gearbox, yea it is just a problem that vauxhall have never seemed to work out!!

yup, gearlinkage, had problems with reverse and 1 > 2 and it was generaly clunky, changed linkage as it was rly smooth.

ok ok its not a nice car, id still rather have one to a corsa though lol well, maybe a cls, bit cheap though aint they
