I have the exact same problem except it is no.3 cylinder not firing. I took it to vx who basically said i need a new engine...so hopefully yours wont be as bad although i am slightly sceptical about vx's diagnosis

This is the exact same as mine, except mine is misfiring on cylinders 1 and 3.

Phoned vauxhall customer services today who told me that it could be a manufacturing fault with the engine but to find out i would have to pay vx garage to strip the engine down and see, then only if they found it to be a manufacturing fauilt would they re imburse me for the costs. The guy on the phone said the problem i have is very unusual and the engine shouldnt be going this early, considering it is just out of warranty and under 60, 000 miles. Currently in progress of changing spark plugs so will let you know how that goes.

i had the same problem mate, it was misfiring cylinders 1 and 3. took it to the local gargae and diagnosed it, came up with a buch of codes. anyways they said to me that it might be your spark plugs, so i changed them and it got fixed temporarily. later that day, it started doing the same thing, gave to another garage and they say it could be various things, could be coil pack, but if it was the car wouldn't start so ruled that out, then they said we'll replace the o2 sensor, its happening due to a rich exhaust. they replaced it but still the same. then i told them to change the MAFM and that did it. it needed replacing because of the cold air intake that i put on, this fooked it and now the car is running perfectly.

Did any kind light flash up onto the dashboard, the spanner looking like mate?

So was the MAFM? Thats all that needed changed? Cuz mine has the same fault right now, it is literally the exact same fault but vx told me it could be piston ring or valves or something, they recommended i get a new engine :(

Well when its idling its very lumpy. Smells as though it is running very rich as their is very strong smell of petrol. The car doesnt feel too bad to drive, i drove it a couple of miles yesterday and it felt ok,its now any slower than usual on pick up, its down a little on power but nothing major. Might try changing the air flow meter to see what happnens
