Hi if there is, what percentage of tinting will not raise insurance?

I don't understand why having rear tints affects insurance :s. Not really changing anything. pisses me off tbh

I've got all round tints. Back is like 90% or something. And the front is like 35% tinted...but not even sure that's just a wild guess.

Anyway, I've never been pulled in over a year now..My insurance (directline) say unless it's factory tints I can't have them, I wouldn't bother declaring but that's just me.

Also they claim that tints effects visability hence why they don't like them..but that's probably some exaggerated bull**** to charge us young drivers more money:x

They do.
For example, You've got 20% tints, it stops 80% of the light getting in, but also stops some getting out.
On a night, if a car had very dim headlights, they'd be even dimmer with tint, thats why the police don't let us have the fronts tinted past 70% of light through, This makes seeing cars harder when looking in your mirrors, so they have a point in charging extra for them imo.

Im sure i seen something in the paper about all front tints to be illegal now??, and yes rear tints do raise insurance but i wouldnt bother telling them as you can either rip um off if you crash or just say you thought they were optional extra's which some corsas have :)

you cant have any tint on the fronts as all cars have slightly tinted front windows as standard that are the legal limit. i got fined for tints on my last car.

as for rears, yes it stops people being able to see as much in the car and prevent a break in.. depending on how dark it is they could reduce visibility especially when raining, iced up etc.. lights are dimmed by the tints and you could possible not see them like a biker.

if they get smashed insurance will have to pay for a window and tints, so a raised premium for a reason.

All modern cars come with the front windows tinted to the legal limit, if you tint them any more it's obviously illegal and you'll get hassle of the police that could get you either a fine or points if the copper is that way out. It'll also void your insurance because it's an illegal modification.

Any shade on the rear will also put your insurance up because it's a mod.
