I don't know if you'll get real life experience based opinions - generally people have OE or look at new aftermarket alloys these days. I have two types of Corsa D alloys, which give me an easier time. 56.6-57.1 is a pretty thin spigot ring, but you can get them. The concern for me is the 35 offset for the Bimmer wheel. The std C offset of 49 is tucked in a bit much for my liking and the 44-45 of the D alloys look better but 35 would be quite a sticky-out wheel, I wonder if 195/65/14s might protrude out from the arches. I'd maybe look at 185s if the wheels came rubberless.
As for the looks, personally I wouldn't care what other people think if I like them myself.
