Thought 6inch would be ok for the parcel shelf of should i go 6x9's :?:

I currently have standard head unit..cant decide what to get but thinking about this

http://www.mcs-direct.co.uk/acatalog/CDX-F7700.jpg

The model below this has 2x preouts and 1xsub out so as this is the model above i would assume it is the same.

I havent bought anything yet..still need hu..amp..subs..6x9's..wanted to know what i should get as i dont want to buy the wrong stuff

Gotta admit mate, it looks very nice that.

Depends what you are going for in the whole scheme of things. 6 x 9's give a bit more bass than a round 6, but it's not worth bothering about if you are going to fit a sub. Personally, I aint got room for a sub and just have the 6x9's run off my alpine HU and they are enough for me for now.

If you are going down the sub/components path, you gotta think about amps and pre-outs etc.

Tea's ready so...

Pretty much all Head Units over £100 will be ready to power a sub. If you want a sub get an amp too :D The best setup is sub, amp, and component speakers up front, and if you want REAL loud **** amp them up to. Depending on what your budget is will obviously depend on what sort of system you can install.

State how much you gotta spend and what music you listen to and I'll piece together a sweet system with links to each item if you want.

Or alternatively, you could go to a local ICE dealer (not Halfords) walk in and say I got £xxxx fit me a fook off sound system :D. They will do it all for you but you will be looking at about £100-£150 to get the whole system in, which may be a good idea if you know nothing. But it is much cheaper and much more fun to install everything yourself. That way when something goes wrong you know how to fix it.

Well if i buy the HU im left with about £500ish for the amp..sub and so is this enough?

I listen mainly to dance and r&b but i dont want to be taking the door cards apart to replace the speakers thats why i was thinking 6x9's on the shelf..but you all know best :D

See what you can come up with and i'll be impressed

Cheers guys

Right ok.....

Here's what I'm thinking...........

About 6 months ago I was in your exact position. I knew absolutely nothing about ICE and just wanted a bass and thought that this would make my system sound mint. And exactly like you I thought taking the door cards off was a big no no cos it looks impossible. So I got Vauxhall to fit me my speakers, see the below URL

http://www.vauxhall.co.uk/domino/vauxhall/accessories/AccessoriesECom.nsf/accessories/SpeakerKitIntegralTweetersNewCorsa

This cost £75 for new speakers and fitment as you see. At first I thought wow that's great, they installed them and they sounded mint. But now..... they are useless. With a 12" JL sub, these are absolutely crap. And these are Vauxhalls powerful ones. I am now upgrading to components, which I recommend you do. There is no point in getting a mint sub, because the bass will be far too loud and will drown out your crappy front speakers. Mixing 6x9's with a bass is a no no as they just clash and it sounds crap.

If you are unsure on taking the door cards off, get the Haynes manual it's great. Takes you through it step by step. You will need to upgrade your front speakers definately.

Here's what I say you do with your £500

Cant go wrong with JL

JL Audio 12" Sub £179.99

JL Audio Amp £179.99

Sub Box £39.99

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=1097

Wiring Kit £19.99

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=2816

Components £55

TOTAL £474.96

Hows that? You even have money spare. With that you can buy the velcro maybe to stick your sub into the boot :) That will be one loud, amazing sound quality system! And for the future you could make it even louder by amping up the components too! That's what I think anyway mate. you don't need to worry about rear speakers when you have your sub in the boot.

Hope this helps, it took long enough to write :p

Don't you have to be careful about the FM incriments (Spelling) for tuning to UK radio stations as if it's a US Head unit are they different? because I was going to order a Pioneer HU from the us last year till I read that it wasn't UK spec and would have had problems tuning to UK radio stations. :?

Shop around a bit smacke. I used to think that Car Audio Direct was cheap. But I got my JL Sub, Amp, Box and Wiring kit all for £350- and all the equipment is the same as above. Got a good deal there. As some people say- try the states, but I would have thought after whoping import taxes it wont be much cheaper

That's the F7700. Is that not the model you wanted? Will have to look harder at your post. And price.
