For my 2nd year of A-Level Tech...we can make anything we want, I wouldn't mind making a boot build of some kind, but im unsure about how to go with things, i'm quite keen to use fibreglass, i can get all the materials free from college (apart from Subs/amp etc lol) and i have a year to do the project, so were do i start and what shall i put in??

Any ideas and tips??

Where is the best place to position the amps/subs etc??

different amps prefer to be mounted differently.

different subs prefer different sized boxes, AND different types of boxes

Most of the build will be determined by the gear you want to work with.

Are you using the whole of your boot?
How many subs?
Sealed or ported?
How many amps?
What finish on the FG?
Any lighting?

Then you want to chose the audio gear (budget?) so the measurements constraints can be set. Then you can get into aesthetics like symmetry (or lack of as the case may be), curves and edges etc.

That should get you started.
