they plug the 'head' into this and it comes up with a page full of diagnostics for the car, this way it is easy to spot the problem or its cause and set to repairing it

Normally gives an error code and then you have to find what the code means. think there's a list in the haynes manual.

ah fair enough i kinda want a diagnostics which i can plug into the laptop and monitor things lol no real reason just looks cool lol

you might be able to connect to a laptop somehow but most just show a code.
