So how do you actually remove the cat from the car. I've looked everywhere. I want to smash the inside out of the actual cat so it looks like I've got it. I know this has probably been asked a bunch of times but how do you actually do it? We looked at it and do you have to take the turbo off? I can cut the cat from the bottom but I've not got any way to put it back together after. Even if I bought a pipe I've still got no idea. Do I need to take the radiator off to unbolt it? Would be better if I could unbolt it.

Pretty sure it's an absolute b***ard of a job to do - not worth doing either way - police can tell the sound of a de-catted car a mile off and it's now an on-the-spot fine of something stupid like ÂŁ2500 if you're caught without one (gutted or removed) - factor in the performance gains are barely noticeable (if anything it'll make you slower with such a small engine) and it makes me question why you want to bother. It won't go faster and all you'll be doing is chucking more cancer out of the back of your car.

It's also worth noting that MOT testers can tell if a catalyst has been gutted and welded back together and are well within their rights to fail your car.

Done mine by cutting open the front, knocking it out with a chisel and then welded it back up. Less back pressure, lower exhaust gas temps and comes on boost quicker and holds it better. Not an mot failure if it passes smoke test. Some testers are funny if they can see its been tampered with. My tester didnt care as it passed emissions.
