Good day everyone,

So I have a 2005 Corsa C GSI 1.8 (8v) and my fuel economy is horrendous, maybe they're just not great with economy but I'm getting about 370-400km on a tank at best.
Just wanted to see what you guys are getting or if I have an issue I need to sort out because fuel prices in South Africa are also getting ridiculous,

Thanks :)

In Spain at least it is 16v, if your engine is 8v here it was not sold, about the consumption I think it is high, check the typical, intake air intakes, exhaust leaks, if the exhaust has a lot of carbon or white dust , spark plugs, if the engine pulls, if it has power, and try to walk a few days with the flowmeter unplugged, it will give you a fault in the frame but it will take reference values, so you make sure that it is not indicating that the engine sucks a lot of air and Put more gasoline than normal, it can also happen that the temperature probe is damaged and it is always indicating cold engine, it will be pouring gasoline to heat it

edit
Now I'm not at home, at night I give you a photo of what the Spanish manual says about the consumption at 100 of that car, but I would say that it is around 8/11

Not many countries had the 1.8 8v engine in the Corsa C. We had those in older cars up until around the mid 1990's then in the UK we had 16v engines. We had a Astra 1.8 8v had would get about 30-35mpgs back in the early 1990's.
Our fuel prices are around ÂŁ1.65/litre now in the UK.

That's about the same just a little higher than the UK.
When I started driving back in 1989 it was under ÂŁ1/gallon, used to be able to go out cruising for ÂŁ10 on a weekend and get to the coast and back. I'm as far in land as you can get in the UK pretty much.

Yikes! I was in Malaga up to 7th October and petrol was €1.23/litre, diesel €1.13 at my usual unattended cheap station. I am not enjoying £1.41/litre here in NW England but £1.65?? €2??

I came back from Heathrow airport and had to buy some 95RON at Knutsford just north of Stoke on the M6 and thought ÂŁ1.60 was so outrageous that I only put ÂŁ10 in to make sure I got home.

In 1988, I switched from a CB250N motorcycle to a Peugeot 104SR with a 1.2 engine and thought it had broken down. It never occurred to me that it had run out of petrol so quickly. 28mpg if driven like a grandma, 24mpg with any sort of gung-ho. I was quite glad when it really did break down and I got a brand new R5 and nearer 40mpg.

Everything is expensive down south near to London.
Some of the BP services are a lot more now. Can't fill the van with diesel as there is a ÂŁ99 limit per fill on the card. It's only going to go up to force people to use less fuel. I couldn't afford to travel to work if I didn't have free fuel and use of the van now it's got so expensive to run a car.
