Converting 1.2 to 1.8/2.0? What's the best?

Seriously considering thinking of converting my 1.2 into a 1.8 (Seems cheaper than doing a 2.0, and most likely easier?) I'm completely clueless about how to go about this but me and a few friends will be the ones doing it.

Which one should I go for? The 2.0 or 1.8? 1.8 Would help with the insurance, and sounds cheaper and easier to fit. But still unsure as to which one to go for...

What do I need to take into consideration when working out costs for the conversion? I mean obviously Driveshafts, brakes, mounts & turbo, but what else is there to it?
Also, as for the different engine models, what's the key differences? (Z18XE, Z20LET, Z20LEH, etc..)

How much work would it require to actually do the conversion?
Like is there any welding, etc?

Basically I just wanted to know simply how to go about doing this in simple steps before spending a load of time looking into it properly and working out costings, etc..

Just wanted to know what actually needs to be changed and how it's changed, as well as if I was going to have to lose any functions such as air con?

Thanks!

as above buy a 1.8 or do a zlet conversion
there is a small amount of welding needed, a front bracket needs to be put on the subframe for the front engine mount
as for money you'll be looking at about 3k to do it all propperly and get some decent parts IE front mount intercooler
there is a list of parts needed on here

whereabouts are you based, there are plenty of people up and down the country that will be willing to help out
i'd be well up for helping out with another one,

well at 18 both 1.8's and 2 litres will kill you, but as said theres loads of threads on this one was made 2 days ago asking the same thing, if your going to do a conversion then I would do a 2 litre. If your going down the 1.8 route then its easier to sell the 1.2 and get a 1.8 sri. But if I was you I would just wait a year or two and just buy a quicker car with a 2 litre already in

Thanks for all the replies guys, all taken into consideration! :) had a quote im happy with for insurance.
So you'd all say just put a 1.8 in and get new brakes, exhaust, gearbox and driveshafts?
Reasonfor putting engine in this is cause ive spent a lot of time and money on interior and exterior mods already (about 2/3k) haha!
