Hi upon removal of my rocker cover, i see this white sludge, my dad recons the head gasket it on its way out, which could be the reason there is so much water dissapearing, although there was a puddle of water under the car when i moved it the other day and i was thinkin theres a leak in the coolant pipe HELP. VVVVVVVVVV what do you recon?? Any help from a mechanic would be greatly appreciated.

It would of been all over the cams aswell. Clean it out, and check out this leak. Then after a few miles give it another look.

wasnt on the cams, just the under side of the rocker cover.

gonna jet washthe cover off and paint it tomorrow, find the leak. me thinks its a loose jubilee clip.

sometimes condensation can get in and build up causing that.

It would be milky on the dipstick, you know you have issues then.

Get the water leak sorted before your car overheats, that will worp the head and do the gasket if not worse.

that white stuff just looks like condensation in the oil, weve all had it at some point whether weve seen it or not

as for the water, was the water on the ground orange like the coolant or clear, as if it was clear i would say that was condensation from the air conditioning which is normal

It is a common known fact that small vauxhalls such as the nova, corsa b and the corsa c have this 'mayo' congregate on the oil cap during winter months. Like Brad said its just due to condensation from cold starts and short trips etc. Obviously the water (condensation) boils up, turns to steam and has no where to go apart from UP and the highest point it can reach is the rocker cover and the oil cap. Once it hits that it condenses back down. Thats the way I had it explained to me by my mechanic! A simple engine flush and oil change (remembering to wipe the cap clean etc etc) every 6 months or 6-8,000 miles should stop this happening.

If the car is overheating a lot and the mayo is still appearing then yes, the head gasket could have gone or be on the way out.

White Gunge 1.216v engine

Hi,

I used to have a 2001 1.2 16v corsa comfort and had constant problems with the breather pipes being blocked with white gunge. I used to do about 80 miles aday to and from work. The dealer had it in loads of times but could find nothing causing it and all they did was clean it out.

Hi, I had the same problem on a 51 plate corsa 1.2 16v with my breather
pipes becomming blocked all the time even though i did a 40 mile trip to work. I then had and 04 corsa 1.2 non twinport doing the same journey but no build up of gunge. Vauxhall just kept cleaning it out.
