It's never to early to change your Cam Belt, if it goes your car will be well and truly fcuked... Has it not been changed at all yet?

id put a new 1 on straight away then you know its been done

 

i think its 50000 miles or 5 years but im not 100% on that. look through any reciepts u got with the car and ask the previous owner if hes taken it to a main dealer for any work in the past. the dealer will have all records and reciepts on there computer.

 

how much would one cost and should i get any thing else changed

 

how much did u buy ur car for? And didnt you ask before u bought it?

 

couldnt say i know u have too get a gaskit set aswell

 

i bought it for £2500 with part history

Vx recommend every 100K for the 1.7 DIs and DTIs, though as others have said its best to get it done now if you're concerned. I think Haynes recommend a change at 60K. Vx will probably charge you about £250 for the work.

 

Best doing the water pump as well as they can wear with millage on belt driven cars; Octys due it soon at 70,000

It's 10 years or 100k on those engines.

 

As above 10yrs or 100k, not known to go on them either, I have had a new where the oil pump nut has worked loose and ****ed off the sprocket though, Vauxhall increased the torque setting to 60nm so I always check em if I see them for service, some have been finger tight.

 

I'm getting my cambelt done next month (1.8sri) and Vauxhall quoted me £215 for the belt and the pullies including labour.
