I havent but its taken me 2 hours and i've only got one side of the filter off, the clips are a right pain in the ass. The filter looks like the orginal so been on for bout 7 years and doesnt want to go.

Managed to break one side of the clip too so gonna zip tie the new one on till i get some hose clamps.

You serious? You are going to zip tie a hose that has about 3 bar of pressure in it?

 

the filters are fiddley to get off, but did mine in minutes...

you have to turn the connectors so that the open sections are at a 40% angle to the floor of the car, then plesure together with long nose pliers.....

be very carefull as there will be a fair amount of fuel in the filter and lines!!!!!

 

Should be done as so

-=-=-=- DO THIS WHEN THE CAR IS COLD AND HAS NOT BEEN MOVED FOR AT LEAST 2 HOURS-=-=-=-

# Jack the side of the car up doing the handbrake an chocking shizzle
# With a No.2 cross head unscrew the holding bracket and remove the cover plate (only on eco4 models)
# with either a pair of long nose pliers, circlip removers or AC hose removers unclip the rear clip by pushing each side of the clip in and away from the filter, be careful if the filter is perished the clips will be brittle and snapping them will mean hours of work. once disconnected be ready to catch alot of fuel! if your new filter came with rubber stops on each end use one of these on the old filter to save spillage.
# Repeat the process for the front plugging it
# with the filter now removed the refitting is the reverse of removal make sure the new clips are used and that they clip in place, give the unit a tug if your not sure. screw the bracket and cover if you have one back on then your done.
# Dispose of the filter responsibility and any gloves used for this, also make sure to wash your hands

hehe just saw the other thread you got further than me but i couldnt get the right side clip off (towards the drivers side). One side of it snapped and just wouldnt budge gave up and put it back together and now it pisses fuel everywere 10x worse.

Gonna have to get it towed to a garage for them to sort it, i give up lol. Arms, back, legs and fingers are aching.

What a ball ache.

 

tell me about it my hands bleeding, im cold and now p*"sed off lol it was the front end that was the hardest to get off it eventually came off after some strugling looked and noticed that i had snapped one of the other attachments turned my engine on and the petrol poured out aaagggghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!


does anyone know how much its gunna cost to fix?????

 

God knows i'll probably need the same part as you as it all looks like one piece. Gotta wait till monday and try get some garage to tow it. Gonna get them to sort everything else thats wrong on it as i've had enough of trying lol.

I'd rather pay than get under the bloody thing again lol

 

you will need a fuel return pipe now! thats about £26 from Vx its a dealer only part iirc half hour labour to drop the fuel tank about 6 inches and wiggle it into place. The part youve snapped is non repairable needs to be replaced as a whole unit, i think i still have the part number somewhere if so ill post it up

don't want to thread hijack but i read that there is a tool you can buy from vx that makes releasing the clips easy.

does anyone know what it is

 

you should still be able to release the clips and pull the bit you snapped off, and refit the new ones, but remember to use new clips or it could pop off and empty your tank

 

The way Bradfordcityfc's done it hes actually broken the return pipe so it will need replacing, the tool trevs on about is actually just a pair of circlip removers with a funny attachment on em

 

got my car back from the garage today it cost me £70 i should of got them to change the fuel filter in the first place lol

 

should of done it right in first place lol..

 

yeah and that lol credit crunch and all that thought i would try save some money

Whatever happened to using a bit of fuel line and 2 hose clamps?

Some things on this car make me go: What the hell were they thinking? (eg. plastic gear shift linkage WTF?)

 

could a blocked fuel filter watever be a problem and cause a problem such as low circuit voltage cheers
